Matt Youngberg says the original DuckTales combined everything he loved about entertainment and Disney characters, which is why he developed the reboot with Francisco Angones. For stars Danny Pudi and Ben Schwartz, who voice Huey and Dewey, respectively, the show reminds them of their own childhoods. Same goes for Beck Bennett, who voices Launchpad McQuack, Scrooge’s bumbling albeit brave driver/pilot, and Kate Micucci, who voices the intrepid Webby, the lone girl on these adventures.
The cast also tries to sum up their characters, with Pudi describing Huey as the most prepared, Schwartz confirming that Dewey’s the impulsive one, and Bobby Moynihan saying Louie, “the evil triplet,” is a schemer, and the one trying to follow in Scrooge’s webbed footsteps. What about Mrs. Beakley, who’s voiced by Toks Olagundoye, you ask? Well, as Olagundoye makes clear here, Scrooge’s assistant is just trying to draw the line somewhere. As for the gentleman adventurer himself, David Tennant says he always wants more—more fame, fortune, and chances for heroism.
DuckTales kicks off the rest of season one this Saturday on DisneyXD.
