The Walking Dead halts production after stuntman is badly injured on set

Today is turning out to be a shockingly bad day for the producers of AMC’s hit zombie series The Walking Dead. Earlier today, a lawsuit from former showrunner Frank Darabont aired a bunch of the series’ dirty laundry for public consumption, and now, Deadline reports that the show has been forced to temporarily halt production after a stuntman was badly injured on its set.

According to a statement from AMC, “John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set” today. “He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital, and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Bernecker—who’s worked on dozens of TV shows and films over the years, including Logan and the upcoming Black Panther—suffered a serious head injury after falling 30 feet onto a concrete floor. It’s not clear what condition he’s currently in.
