This video will implant the entire Alien franchise in your brain in just 3 minutes
The Alien franchise first burrowed its way into our communal psyche in 1979 via a relatively low-budget but highly effective sci-fi horror film scripted by Dan O’Bannon and directed by Ridley Scott. Once there, it spent seven years gestating and emerged in the summer of 1986 as James Cameron’s superbly reimagined futuristic military thriller Aliens. Although that represented the film series at its peak, it has proven itself remarkably resilient and unwilling to die despite fluctuating levels of filmmaking quality and fitful critical response. Now, four decades after its conception, it has produced seven films and a whole brood of video games and novels. On top of all that, yet another big-screen chapter, Alien: Covenant, is due to be unleashed upon audiences in August 2017. There’s too many of them! They’re coming at us from every direction! How do we keep up with them all?! Game over, man! Game over!
Actually, no. Game not over. Mashable’s Too Long; Didn’t Watch series has arrived, armed with a tightly packed explanatory video that helps bring series rookies up to speed and keep veterans in fighting shape ahead of the big release next year.
Here is where a quote from 2012’s Prometheus would go if that movie had any memorable lines.
