Tom Savini joins the cast of From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series
Tom Savini has signed a deal to join the third-season cast of El Rey’s From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Deadline reports. Savini played memorably-named biker Sex Machine in the 1996 film upon which the action-horror show is based, but will now play the more prosaically named Burt, a pot-smoking retired demon hunter. The 69-year-old special-effects legend has maintained a side career as an actor since taking a small role in George A. Romero’s 1977 film Martin, and has since appeared in more than 50 films and television shows.
Ana de la Reguera (Narcos) and Marko Zaror (Machete Kills) will also be joining the cast as an ancient vampire lord and an Aztec warrior trained in hell, respectively. They will appear alongside the returning cast, which includes D.J. Cotrona and Zane Holtz as Seth and Richie Gecko, the characters originated on screen by George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino.
From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series was created by Robert Rodriguez—who directed the original film from Tarantino’s screenplay—and airs on the Texas-based filmmaker’s own cable television channel, El Rey.*
