Tune-Yards, Dan Deacon, and more to play benefit show for Oakland fire victims

Last weekend, 36 people died when a fire broke out at an electronic music show being held in an Oakland, California warehouse venue known as “Ghost Ship.” Authorities say that a number of building code violations contributed to the high death toll, including a makeshift staircase built of wooden pallets and the fact that people had been living in the building illegally.

Now, as reported by Consequence Of Sound, the Gray Area Foundation For The Arts has set up a fund to help raise money for the victims’ families, and in addition to already pulling in more than $550,000 in donations, the organization has also announced a benefit concert. Called Oakland United: A Benefit For The Oakland Fire Relief, the show will be held on December 14 and will feature Tune-Yards, Tycho, Thao Nguyen, Primus, Rogue Wive, Dan Deacon, and bunch of other Bay Area musical acts.

You can get tickets at this link or donate directly to the fund at this other link.
