UPDATED: James Brolin and Maya Rudolph join Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in The Nest
James Brolin—the dashing, sometimes-mustachioed gentleman best known to The A.V. Club’s readership as Jeff’s dad on Community, to their moms as Marcus Welby M.D., and to Josh Brolin as “Pops”—has been cast in the upcoming Tina Fey/Amy Poehler comedy The Nest. As previously reported, Fey and Poehler will play sisters in the movie about siblings who decide to throw one last, undoubtedly pratfall-filled and hilarious party before their parents sell their childhood home. Brolin will play Fey and Poehler’s dad, rounding out a cast that also includes The Mindy Project’s Ike Barinholtz as Poehler’s love interest. None of these people look like they’re related, but as we’ve already established, it doesn’t really matter, because Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are adorable together.
UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that Fey and Poehler’s fellow SNL alum Maya Rudolph is also joining the cast. Rudolph will be playing a childhood friend of Fey and Poehler’s, and not a member of the family, so all’s well.
