Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, June 14 to Saturday, June 20. All times are Eastern.
New this week
5th Annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards (Bravo and Peacock, Wednesday, 9 p.m., awards special) Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ campy celebration of culture’s most iconic moments of the year is back on Bravo with yet another lineup of hilariously hyper-specific awards categories, including but not limited to: “Best Disney Hotel For Intercourse, Sex, Or Lovemaking,” “Outstanding Thing To Say When Forgetting Someone’s Name” and “Y’all Know I’m Canada Down Award For Ya’ll Know It’s Canada Down.” (Say that five times fast.) As usual, the extravagant festivities will include live musical performances, celebrity guests, and plenty of surprises.
The Simpsons (Disney+, Wednesday, special episode) Missing the Simpsons? We haven’t hung out with Homer, Marge, and the kiddos since mid-February, but Disney+ is offering up a trilogy of new episodes this summer, beginning with this week’s “Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition”. The exclusive drop finds the Simpson parents excited for a couples’ date night—that is, until she discovers that he left Bart, Lisa and Maggie home completely unsupervised. Understandably ticked off and a bit tipsy, Marge fantasizes about a Homer who’s very different from the one she met in detention hall in the ’70s. Wait, make that summer camp in the ’60s. But then how did Homer invent grunge in the ’90s? Maybe Marge has already met multiple variations of her husband of 37 seasons (and counting). All continuity issues aside, this double episode features guest appearances by Betty Gilpin, Laufey, and Tegan And Sara.
I Will Find You (Netflix, Thursday, series premiere) The Harlan Coben Cinematic Universe continues with yet another Netflix adaptation of one of the author’s novels, this time his 2023 thriller about David Burroughs(played here by Sam Worthington), a father wrongly convicted of and serving a life sentence for the murder of his own son. When he receives evidence that would not only exonerate him but also suggests that the boy is alive, David breaks out of prison to clear his name and track down his child. Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia, Erin Richards, Jonathan Tucker, and Madeleine Stowe round out the ensemble. Look out for The A.V. Club’s review on Thursday.
