What's on TV this week—Little Disasters and Wake Up Dead Man

Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows and streaming films. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, December 7 to Saturday, December 13. All times are Eastern.

New this week

Little Disasters (Paramount+, Wednesday, 12 a.m., series premiere)

This six-part miniseries from Ruth Fowler (BBC One’s Rules Of The Game) finds a group of mom friends torn apart when a doc begins to question the circumstances of an injured baby. Diane Kruger, Jo Joyner, Ben Bailey Smith, and Bridgerton‘s Shelley Conn co-star. The A.V. Club‘s review of the show publishes Wednesday.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (Netflix, Friday, 3 a.m.)

Rian Johnson sets his latest Knives Out whodunit in a small-town parish, with  Daniel Craig’s flamboyant sleuth, Benoit Blanc, looking into the earnest Rev. Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor). Andrew Scott (speaking of hot priests), Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, and Kerry Washington pad out the characteristically star-studded congregation. Check out The A.V. Club’s review of the film.

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues (HBO Max, Friday, 3 a.m.)

The band—that is, comedy legends Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer, as well as director Rob Reiner—gets back together for one last gig in this long-awaited sequel to the classic mockumentary. Bumbling musicians David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls share the spotlight here with real-life rock royalty like Elton John and Paul McCartney. Read The A.V. Club’s review

Taylor Swift: The End Of An Era (Disney+, Friday, 3 a.m., series premiere)

The reigning pop queen celebrates the culmination of her record-breaking, 150-gig Eras Tour with a six-episode docuseries delving into the practicalities and pressures of putting on such an ambitious production. Swift’s closest pals— Travis Kelce, Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter, and the like—also cameo. Look out for coverage of the show later this week.
