What's on TV this week—DTF St. Louis, Vladimir, and American Classic

Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows. Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, March 1 to Saturday, March 7. All times are Eastern.

New this week

DTF St. Louis (HBO, Sunday, 9 p.m., miniseries premiere)

Written and directed by creator Steven Conrad (Patriot), HBO’s latest limited series explores the darkly funny edges of a love triangle between three Midwesterners (played by Jason Bateman, David Harbour, and Linda Cardellini) as they navigate hookup apps and middle-aged loneliness. And soon enough, one of them winds up dead. Read The A.V. Club’s review.

American Classic (MGM+, Sunday, 9 p.m., series premiere)

Kevin Kline stars in this MGM+ show as a full-of-himself Broadway thespian who, after melting down in spectacularly public fashion, is forced to leave New York and return to the humble family theater where he made a name for himself. There, he contends with his ex (played by Laura Linney), who is not only now the town mayor but also married to his brother (portrayed by Jon Tenney).

Vladimir (Netflix, Thursday, 3 a.m., miniseries premiere)

Created by Julia May Jonas and based on her novel, this eight-part Netflix limited series pairs up Oscar winner Rachel Weisz as a literature professor and One Day hunk Leo Woodall as the magnetic and much younger colleague with whom she becomes infatuated. That crush soon bubbles over into an all-consuming obsession, with viewers getting a direct look into her fantasies. The A.V. Club’s review publishes on Thursday.

Outlander (Starz, Friday, 12 a.m., season eight premiere)

And so begins the end of television’s steamiest time-travel drama. When we last caught up with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), he decided to resign from the Continental Army and return to Fraser’s Ridge with Claire (Caitríona Balfe), who was recovering from a near-fatal gunshot wound. Check out The A.V. Club’s review of the show’s eighth and final season on Tuesday.
