Slow Horses (Apple TV+, Wednesday, 12:01 a.m.)
The highly engaging British spy drama Slow Horses, based on Mick Herron’s novels, returns for another round. Gary Oldman is back as Jackson Lamb, the leader of Slough House, where MI5 rejects band together to form a dysfunctional team. Season three is based on the book Real Tigers, in which Jackson is plucked out of retirement to save Catherine (Saskia Reeves). The cast includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, and Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù. Look out for The A.V. Club’s review on Monday.
The Artful Dodger (Hulu, Wednesday, 12:01 a.m.)
The Artful Dodger focuses on a secondary character from Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist. Thomas Brodie-Sangster plays Jack Dawkins, a.k.a. Artful Dodger, in this show set in 1850s Australia. Dawkins, a former pickpocket-turned-respectable surgeon, is drawn back to the world of crime when an old acquaintance returns. David Thewlis, Damon Herriman, and Maia Mitchell co-star. The A.V.
