After the dissolution of Sallie Ford And The Sound Outside, band leader Sallie Ford decided to rebuild, using just her name as the project’s anchor. On October 14 Vanguard Records will release Slap Back, Ford’s first foray into the world with her new act. The A.V. Club is premiering “Coulda Been,” a track that sees her pondering a failed relationship and all its different outcomes as drums and shakers crash around her, making it a truly danceable lament, but one that makes as many references to rock ‘n’ roll’s past as it does its present.
