Finally putting the spotlight on those poor, oft-neglected actors, the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony is one of the last stops on the road to Oscar. Hosted by Kristen Bell, tonight’s ceremony rewarded the efforts of many Academy Awards players, including Demi Moore, Timothée Chalamet, Zoe Saldaña, and Kieran Culkin. How will that change things for the horserace? Who knows! But what makes the SAG Awards stand out is its love for the snubbed. Many of the season’s unsung hopefuls, including Daniel Craig for Queer, Pamela Anderson for Last Showgirl, and Jonathan Bailey for Wicked, got some recognition from their union. None of them won, of course, but it’s nice to be nominated, they say.
The SAG Awards are also one of the few shows that recognize stunts as an essential element in the making of motion pictures—just not essential enough to air those stunt awards during the broadcast. Alas, congratulations to The Fall Guy, which feels appropriate.
We also said goodbye to last year’s television, hearing those magical words “And the winner is…Shōgun” four more times. Thankfully, as long as Hacks is going, we’ll always have Jean Smart to pick up an award or two.
Here are the winners of the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
