AMC has The Audacity to release first look at new Silicon Valley satire

Does America have the audacity to accept yet another Silicon Valley satire? Well, great news, they’re getting one anyway. Coming from the twisted mind of Jonathan Glatzer, whose poison pen previously brought nerve-wrenching scenarios to Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Bad Sisters, and Succession, The Audacity stars Billy Magnussen as Duncan Park, one of those spineless, conniving data miners who are currently making life on and off the internet miserable. In the newly released teaser for the series, Park receives a text that causes him to collapse to the floor and writhe in pain, yet he nevertheless reports it as “great news” to his employees.

Here’s the teaser:

And the synopsis:

Set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, The Audacity takes on the warped dreams, outsized egos, and ethical lapses of the self-styled inventors of the future. In a world of jaded billionaires, psychiatrist-gurus, bio-hacked tech bros, AI labs, and disillusioned teens being optimized in elite private schools, an audacious data-mining CEO (Billy Magnussen) strives to turn insight and influence into profit and power. The darkly comedic drama confronts reality, privacy, and the delusions fueling our ever-changing world.

While the plot specifics remain thin, AMC hopes to lure us in with a stacked cast. In addition to Magnussen, The Audacity stars Sarah Goldberg, Zach Galifianakis, Lucy Punch, Simon Helberg, Rob Corddry, and guest star Randall Park as Gabe. One hopes that this will finally be the show that taps into Magnussen’s comedic chops, which have mostly gone to waste in the seven years since Game Night.

Want to know what the great news is? Curious viewers will have to tune in to the premiere on April 12 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
