Bad news, everyone: Elon Musk has discovered the "absolute unit" meme

Elon Musk, the man whose professional image is meant to hinge on cutting-edge ideas, can’t help himself from looking hopelessly out of touch on the internet. Musk’s recent history includes, unfortunately for us, the Harambe rap. There is also last fall’s Twitter request for the “dankest memes,” which came soon after a smoky, katana-wielding Joe Rogan appearance and a joke about setting Tesla stock prices at $420 per share, all to convince the world, we guess, that he likes weed.
Now, with spring in the air and a hop in his step, Musk is once again feeling youthful enough to display his sense of humor through another topical, deeply hilarious gag about last year’s “absolute unit” meme.
In response to an already pretty embarrassing MIT Technology Review tweet calling the world’s biggest airplane an absolute unit, Musk stopped giggling into his hands just long enough to reply, “I’m an absolute unit too.”
The soul of wit, as we all know, is repeating others’ jokes verbatim, something that’s doubly funny when it’s done as a response to someone saying the same thing. Wipe away the tears from your eyes and get your laughter under control because there’s more to come.
The Museum Of English Rural Life (MERL), the people who tweeted the original photo of the ram, showed that they’ve lost their flair for originality over the last year, perhaps temporarily overwhelmed by Musk’s recognition of their work, and responded to him with that Spider-man pointing image.
Things could only get worse from this point onward.
