As the shock of Kojima Productions moving Physint to Xbox after Sony 86’d its commitment to it lingers, founder and developer Hideo Kojima is making big moves to get people excited about the game again. (As opposed to the feeling of agitation that some PlayStation devotees have about it. *cough*) In a video posted Thursday, Kojima announced that It and Nosferatu actor Bill Skarsgård would star in the action-espionage game. “I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for Physint,” Kojima said. “We are both long-time fans of each other’s work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together. The costume fittings, scans, and camera tests we conducted with Bill and [co-star Charlee Fraser] earlier this year gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project. My vision of the final form became much more solidified.” Tough break for the Robert Pattinson truthers out there.
Kojima remained mum about new game details, though he did say that progress on both Physint and his Hunter Schafer-starring horror game OD is going well. (Xbox announced its partnership with the title in 2023.) “Physint is the culmination of more than 40 years of my career, a project that will redefine ‘action-espionage’, unbound by any existing genres in digital entertainment,” Kojima said in the video. “The project continues to make steady progress. We’re also making progress on casting, talent scans, and collaborations with outside creators. There are still many exciting cast announcements to come in the future, so please stay tuned for further updates.” The developer also expressed enthusiasm about his company’s strengthened relationship with Xbox. “I would like to sincerely thank all of our players, fans, and community members for tuning in and for your continued support,” he said. “I would also like to thank our partners at Xbox for believing in our vision and walking this path toward the future alongside us. We are incredibly excited about the road ahead and look forward to sharing much more with you in the future. Please stay tuned!”
