Billy Corgan’s memoir is 1000 pages long and counting

Cat fancier, former wrestling impresario, and Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is hard at work committing his fractious life story to paper, according to an interview he did last month with a Chicago-based TV host. And because Corgan never does anything—redefining the sound of ’90s alt rock, riding roller coasters, busting out sweet-looking suplexes, probably—half-assed, his memoir is apparently already clocking in at 1000 pages of bald-headed, frowning brilliance, with no signs of stopping soon.

Titled God is Everywhere, From Here to There, the memoir is, in Corgan’s words, “Actually meant to get you out of what you think you know, and take you hopefully into the very interpersonal experience of what I experienced. Which, I would argue, is mythology. Most of what I have experienced in my life isn’t real.” (This may or may not be code for, “I’m probably gonna make some stuff up, just because.”) According to Corgan, the book is already 200,000 words long, and not even halfway close to done. Also, apparently none of those words will be the actual names of any of the other people in Corgan’s life, because he’s changing them all to obvious aliases. So we can all look forward to the exciting tale of the time he got in a fight with his ex-girlfriend, Bortney Bove (ex-wife of late Dirvana legend Burt Propane), or the time he got together with Flames Iha, Timmy Tamberlain, and D’arcy Wretzky II to write their hit song, “Blineteen 79.”
