Black Mirror's seventh season trailer invites you to escape dystopia for dystopia

Being a Luddite never seemed more appealing. With the world spiraling into techno-fascism, the fine folks at Netflix are holding up another season of Black Mirror, reflecting our real-world misery back to its audience. Knowing that we only have television to look forward to, one of the tech overlords filling our black mirrors with content, the streamer has released an episodic trailer laying out the seven tales of technological terrors coming to Netflix next month.

The episodes include more tales of terror about not opting for the ad-free version of your dead wife’s resurrected consciousness, a machine that lets you look into your best memories, and sequels to Bandersnatch and “USS Callister,” sans the stars people liked from that.

Here are the episode titles, casts, and synopsis:

“Common People,” starring Rashida Jones, Chris O’Dowd, and Tracee Ellis Ross.

“When a medical emergency leaves school teacher Amanda fighting for her life, her desperate husband Mike signs her up for Rivermind, a high-tech system that will keep her alive – but at a cost….”

“Bête Noire” starring Siena Kelly, Rosy Mc McEwen, Michael Workéyè, and Ben Bailey Smith.

“Confectionary whizz kid Maria is unnerved when her former schoolmate Verity joins the company she works at — because there’s something altogether odd about Verity, something only Maria seems to notice…”

“Hotel Reverie” starring Issa Rae, Emma Corrin, Awkwafina, and Harriet Walter.

“A high-tech, unusually immersive remake of a vintage British film sends Hollywood A-list star Brandy Friday into another dimension, where she must stick to the script if she ever wants to make it home.”

“Play Thing” starring Peter Capaldi, Lewis Gribben, James Nelson Joyce, Michele Austin, and Will Poulter.

“In a near-future London, an eccentric murder suspect is linked to an unusual video game from the 1990s — a game populated by cute, evolving artificial lifeforms.”

“Eulogy” starring Paul Giamatti and Patsy Ferran.

“An isolated man is introduced to a groundbreaking system that allows its users to literally step inside old photographs — stirring powerful emotions in the process.”

“USS Callister: Into Infinity” starring Cristin Miloti, Jimmi Simpson, Billy Magnussen, Osy Ikhile, Milanka Brooks, and Paul G. Raymond.

“Robert Daly is dead, but now the crew of the USS Callister – led by Captain Nanette Cole – are stranded in an infinite virtual universe, fighting for survival against 30 million players.”

Black Mirror returns to Netflix on April 10.
