CBS’s Supergirl has found its Jimmy Olsen

CBS’s Supergirl TV series has cast its Jimmy Olsen, drafting Necessary Roughness star Mehcad Brooks to play the plucky photographer. Brooks will be co-starring with Glee’s Melissa Benoist, recently cast as the nascent superhero Kara Zor-El, who harbors a crush on her camera-wielding co-worker.

Of course, as has happened so often before, Brooks has some notable physical differences from the canonical Jimmy Olsen—namely, that Brooks is a very attractive man, while Superman’s pal has always been represented as kind of a goober. But given the normal reaction from comics fans any time a casting choice diverges slightly from the source material, we can only assume everyone is going to be super cool about this.
