Glen Powell's Chad Powers sets official kick off date

The good ol’ pigskin has a little something for everyone this fall. Want to watch the Philadelphia Eagles defend their Super Bowl championship? You can do that starting this September. Prefer the epic highs and lows of… Glen Powell playing fake football with a fake face? Whaddaya know—you can watch that this September too.

Chad Powers is officially coming to Hulu September 30, as the network announced during Disney’s upfront presentation, which was attended by The A.V. Club (and a prosthetic-free Powell) today. Inspired by an Eli Manning improv bit from three years ago (yes, you read that right), Chad Powers follows Russ Holliday (Powell), a “hotshot” QB who “nukes… [his] college career” through some sort of “bad behavior.” Yes, the 36-year-old actor is playing a college student. The age thing doesn’t really matter, though, as this series isn’t exactly going for realism; just take a look at Powell’s fake nose. The prosthetics actually factor into the plot, as Russ disguises himself and attempts to walk onto a struggling Southern football team for another shot at glory.

OG Chad Powers Eli Manning is getting back on the field as executive producer, along with his brother and fellow ex-NFL player Peyton Manning. Powell will also serve as EP, as well as co-creator and co-writer. Also on the roster are Michael Waldron (Loki) as co-creator and co-writer and Tony Yacenda (American Vandal) as director. Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Steve Zahn will also appear.

Chad Powers‘ starting lineup includes two episodes of the series, with additional episodes to follow weekly on Tuesdays. Check out a teaser below:
