Chicago, earn extra credit by seeing Booksmart early and for free
Listen, no one is going to be mad at you if you wait to see Booksmart until it hits theaters on May 24. But if you were the kind of honor student who got an illicit little tingle every time you heard the words “extra credit” back in your high school days, then this movie, as they say, is for you. Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever star as best friends joined at the hip who realize the night before graduation that maybe they wasted their teenage years just studying all the time, and—being the overachievers that they are—decide to make up for it all at once with a wild night of partying. Booksmart marks the directorial debut of actress Olivia Wilde, and based on an informal poll of the A.V. Club staffers who were able to catch it at early screenings, it’s one of our favorite teen comedies to come along in a while.
We’re hosting an advance screening of Booksmart next Wednesday, May 22, at 7:00 PM at our usual haunt of the AMC River East; to enter to win an admit-two pass for you and your BFF, simply follow this link and enter some basic information. Just be sure to arrive early, as advance screenings are intentionally overbooked to ensure capacity. Not that we’ll have to worry about that with nitpicking perfectionists such as yourselves.
