Cosmo magazine is developing a TV show about Cosmo magazine
Cosmopolitan, the magazine that believes that blindfolding your man is the solution to all of life’s problems, is developing a TV show about itself with the help of Bachelorette writer Leslye Headland. Presumably pitched as a flirtier, more fun take on Ugly Betty, the as-yet-unnamed pilot will focus on a woman who, after failing in her career as a political blogger, re-invents herself as the sex and dating editor of Cosmo. (Dress up like a elephant and tell him to filibuster you! Have him read aloud from the Affordable Care Act as you give him oral!)
The project is being spearheaded by Cosmo editor Joanna Coles, who Project Runway fans will remember as the ice-cold blonde with the British accent who was always concerned with whether you could wear a bra with things. (A practical woman, that one.) Coles has participated in a number of reality-show projects in the past, but this will be her and her company’s first foray into scripted television.
