After someone at Adult Swim decided it would be funny to tack on an “in memoriam” for Game Of Thrones’ writing at the end of the latest episode of Rick And Morty, fans of both shows prepared to meet each other on an icy battlefield with their Valyrian steel and portal guns in hand. But Justin Roiland and the Rick And Morty social media team were quick to deny there’s a brewing grudge match among showrunners (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss don’t have Twitter accounts, but let’s just assume they said similar things from inside George R.R. Martin’s house). By now, most people have chalked this up to a bored intern taking a swipe at TV’s biggest show, which has admittedly shoved logistics out the Moon Door. But just to be very clear, Dan Harmon’s posted a statement on Instagram, disavowing the stunt while also observing it wasn’t worth addressing in the first place.

With peace now presumably restored to the land, the respective sides can go back to grumbling about Winterfell or playing with their Pocket Mortys.
