Please clap for Disney+ live-action Tinker Bell series

The Disney idea machine spits out another crackerjack pitch.

Please clap for Disney+ live-action Tinker Bell series

Building on the success of 2023’s Peter Pan & Wendy and last year’s live-action Snow White, the ad wizards at Disney have put together another foolproof idea to boost Disney+ subscribership: A live-action Tinker Bell series. Per Deadline, Tink, as it’s called, has been in some form of development for the better part of a decade. After Disney’s direct-to-DVD Tinker Bell series, starring Mae Whitman as Tink, flamed out in 2015, the company quickly announced the first version of Tink, starring Reese Witherspoon, but that one drank the poison before Peter Pan could. It seems unlikely that Witherspoon will still play the character unless it’s entirely CGI, which is pretty much Disney’s MO these days. However, Witherspoon notably did not take part in Tink’s last big-screen endeavor, Peter Pan & Wendy, which saw Yara Shahidi in desperate need of applause

This latest version comes from Bridget Carpenter and Liz Heldens, who worked together on Friday Night Lights. Heldens has since moved on to showrun Will Trent, while Carpenter created Hulu’s 11.22.63. No word yet on how many episodes the series will run, but it is considered a big project for the streamer, and might finally help get that much-coveted demographic of scorned fairies ignored by their man-child, commitment-phobic boyfriends.
