Dr. Drew says he's finally kicking the Celebrity Rehab habit now that so many people have died
After six seasons of helping troubled stars face their addictions while also facing his face, Dr. Drew Pinsky has decided he can no longer keep doing Celebrity Rehab, or remain in denial about the damage it’s caused—specifically to him, Dr. Drew. Dr. Drew’s moment of clarity came after realizing that several of his patients have died and that so many people seem angry at him about it, just because he tried to help them as a means to making himself wealthy and famous. “It’s very stressful and very intense for me,” he said during a recent radio interview, referring to the deaths of former Celebrity Rehab patients Mindy McCready, Jeff Conaway, Rodney King, Mike Starr, and Joey Kovar, and—as with so many celebrity deaths—using them as an opportunity to discuss Dr. Drew. “To have people questioning my motives and taking aim at me because people get sick and die because they have a life-threatening disease, and I take the blame?” he added. “I don't have plans to do that again. I'm tired of taking all the heat. It's just ridiculous.” Indeed, it is pretty low that someone would take a celebrity’s very personal tragedy then exploit it by linking it to Dr. Drew, so it’s a good thing that’s not happening anymore.
