Josh Hutcherson already survived five nights at Freddy’s. Now he has to survive five more nights at Freddy’s in… Five Nights At Freddy’s 2. The film probably could have used a more creative title, but as its newly dropped teaser implies, the writers may have been under threat from murderous fuzzy animatronics at the time, so we can’t blame them for taking the easy way out. Freddy Fazbear and his friends have left the restaurant. Now, they’re “everywhere,” as Elizabeth Lail’s character chillingly proclaims, right before a pair of robotic yellow hands pulls a screaming man through a glass door. This doesn’t look like a problem that can be solved in five, or maybe even 10 nights.

Hutcherson is back as very unfortunate security guard Mike, with Elizabeth Lail (Vanessa), Matthew Lillard (William Afton), and Piper Rubio (Mike’s little sister Abby) also reprising their roles. “Anyone can survive five nights. This time, there will be no second chances,” the Emma Tammi-directed film’s logline reads. That isn’t great news for the possibility of Five Nights At Freddy’s 3, but if a giant robot named Carl the Cupcake can walk out of a Chuck E. Cheese knockoff and murder a bunch of people, anything can happen.

Blumhouse’s original Five Nights At Freddy’s film, based on the cult classic video game, was a surprise smash, opening to $80 million and going on to make nearly $300 million worldwide in 2023. The studio obviously hopes to have the same sort of killer opening when Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 premieres in theaters this December.
