Foo Fighters end 19-month hiatus with new U.S. tour date

Today, Dave Grohl and The Foo Fighters announced their first U.S. concert in 19 months headlining Napa’s BottleRock festival. Also playing the festival will be Dave Grohl-approved acts Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Silversun Pickups, as well as Maroon 5, Band Of Horses, Ani DiFranco, and Modest Mouse. It’s uncertain whether Grohl approves of the latter artists, but listeners should cautiously avoid listening to them until Grohl deems them essential.

The band will also bring their brand of new classic rock to Madrid, Denmark, Poland, Belgium, and Iceland—all Foo Fighters-tested and Dave Grohl-approved—in 2017, headlining festival shows overseas before returning stateside. A five-part documentary narrated by Grohl about the band’s recent time off, as well as last year’s leg injury, is undoubtedly on the horizon.

The BottleRock festival will run from May 26 to May 28.
