Francis Lawrence tapped to direct the final two Hunger Games movies

Francis Lawrence will see Panem through its uprising. The director has been tapped to direct the final two Hunger Games movies—Mockingjay Part 1 and Mockingjay Part 2. He is also currently neck deep in directing the series’ second movie, Catching Fire, in North Carolina. Moviegoers may know him as the visionary behind such groundbreaking films as Constantine, I Am Legend, and Water For Elephants.

Danny Strong, better known as Jonathan from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, will write both the Mockingjay movies, which follow Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen as she leads Panem’s districts in an uprising against the Capitol, all the while maintaining her sweet braid and steely exterior.
