After nearly 40 years of reducing the art of film criticism into easily digestible pun form, Gene Shalit has announced that he is retiring from The Today Show, with his final appearance being Nov. 11. Shalit has been a mainstay of the program since 1973. Echoing the sentiments of viewers since 1974, Shalit’s rep said, “It’s enough already.”
