Who he is: Gideon Malick
His power: No power, but enough money and influence that he’s the kind of guy others would describe as a “powerful man.”
His story: First appearing in The Avengers, Gideon Malick was one of the leaders of Hydra who infiltrated the World Security Council. However, once Hydra was exposed and S.H.I.E.L.D. publicly disbanded, he reappeared on season three of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., working with the U.S. government to develop the Advanced Threat Containment Unit (ATCU) as a means of capturing and monitoring Inhumans—with the plan of recruiting them all into a Hydra army. He wanted them to be led by Hive, the first Inhuman whom Malick helped return to Earth from the distant planet where he had been banished. However, Hive soon revealed other plans, killing Malick’s daughter, leaving Gideon to volunteer to help Phil Coulson after being captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. Unfortunately for Malick, Quake becomes possessed by Hive and enters the room where Malick is being held, using her power to brutally crush his skull and prevent him from talking. Yuck.
