While her intentions presumably aren’t as nefarious, Charli is currently on a White Witch-esque quest to brat-ify Hollywood. The Grammy winner’s confirmed roles include Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, A24’s The Moment, Daniel Goldhaber’s Faces of Death remake, Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice, Pete Ohs’ Erupcja, Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero, Benito Skinner’s comedy series Overcompensating, and Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist. Even if she didn’t have a ton of on-set experience before embarking on this journey, she has done her homework. “I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it,” she told Variety in December. “So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.” Charli also contributed a song, “Speed Drive,” to the Barbie soundtrack, so a more formal collaboration with Gerwig wouldn’t come completely out of left field.
Gerwig is also on a mission to disrupt industry standards for this series just like Charli did last summer with brat. In January, The Little Women director did the impossible and actually got Netflix to agree to release one of their films theatrically. Gerwig’s first Narnia film is slated for an exclusive two-week IMAX run starting Thanksgiving 2026, before landing on the streamer Christmas Day the same year. As of this writing, no official cast has been announced.
