HBO gives Bottoms star Rachel Sennott her own TV pilot

That sounds vaguely similar to Girls and Insecure, but that’s just the HBO version of giving a comedian a sitcom. King Of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond and Seinfeld all seem pretty similar on paper, but it’s the execution there (and here, presumably) that sets things apart. Of course, this is just a pilot and not a full series, so it’s up to HBO to decide if whatever Sennott comes up with is good enough to make into an actual show. She’s a hell of an up-and-coming star, though, and Bottoms had some wild energy, so it seems pretty safe to assume that this show about codependent friends getting back together will be something neat.

Deadline also notes that Sennott has been part of the HBO family from the moment she started acting professionally, having made her TV debut on pot-dealer anthology comedy High Maintenance and her most recent TV appearance on The Idol. There wasn’t a ton of TV stuff in between that (like the short-lived Comedy Central show Ayo And Rachel Are Single and the short-lived ABC show Call Your Mother), but it’s still an HBO sandwich.

Sennott will soon be appearing in SNL 1975 as Rosie Shuster, a Saturday Night Live writer and childhood friend of series creator Lorne Michaels (the two also used to be married).
