There’s no shortage of murder mysteries right now, from Apple TV’s Imperfect Women to FX’s The Lowdown, but Netflix’s new thriller Heartland aims to offer a fresh spin on the genre, set in the dark side of Nashville’s country music scene. The film stars Jessica Chastain as Misty Jones, a country music legend who returns to Nashville after 20 years to discover the truth about the disappearance of her 22-year-old niece, Charlie Heart (Carter Faith). The trailer shows Chastain’s no-nonsense character, whose disposition earned her the nickname the “Queen Of Mean,” springing into action to solve the mystery before the clock runs out. The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina actor and real-life musician Ross Lynch’s character threateningly tells Misty, “Stop digging, or you’ll be missing right alongside her.” Not like that warning stops Misty, anyway. She’s seen shooting someone’s windows out with a gun, smashing a vehicle’s front window with a rock, and flipping off a swarm of reporters. “There’s no such thing as good girls,” she says.
