Hold on to your butts, because here’s a bunch of unreleased art from Jurassic Park

Aside from Drew Struzan, the guy who did the poster for Star Wars (because everyone is always being upstaged by some guy from Star Wars), John Alvin is probably the best known and most highly regarded film poster artist of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Alvin’s hand-painted art adorns the posters for Blazing Saddles, Gremlins, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, and Blade Runner, among others, posters that are collected in the upcoming book The Art Of John Alvin. But not all of Alvin’s illustrations made it to movie theaters, as demonstrated by the collections of Alvin’s work that have popped up online in the past few days.

Some of Alvin’s most interesting unreleased art comes from Jurassic Park—although the studio ended up approving his now-iconic T-Rex design, Alvin also painted quite a few alternate posters and concept sketches in the soft airbrushed style he used for E.T. Some of the best are collected below.
