James Cameron says Avatar sequels will cease to be mere films and become "reality"

While James Cameron could probably afford to fly each and every American to the heart of the rainforest, where he would then have Sam Worthington and various animatronic Na’vi stage daily live performances of Avatars 2 and 3, the director has decided to totally cheap out by simply enhancing his upcoming sequels with a much higher frame rate, which will give them an “added sense of reality.” Cameron’s commitment to verisimilitude on his back-to-back sequels has thus far included reportedly threatening to take his cast seven miles underwater and force them to live with an indigenous Brazilian tribe for a while, and with such minor matters apparently settled, he spent his time at CinemaCon talking about how his plans for an increased 48 to 60 frames per second shooting speed will help him overcome the artificiality of mere 3-D and become something else entirely: “The 3-D shows you a window into reality,” Cameron said. “The higher frame rate takes the glass out of the window. In fact, it is just reality.” Sounds exactly like what those diehard and occasionally suicidal Avatar fans need. [via Movieline]
