Madelyn Cline and Penelope Cruz also star in the film, which debuts in March.

Johnny Depp has a mind for revenge in Day Drinker trailer

Johnny Depp’s return to mainstream film continues with Day Drinker, featuring another trailer that’s hard not to read as an advertisement for his return to acting as much as an advertisement for the film itself. Sure, it doesn’t go to quite the lengths of the Ebenezer trailer, but anyone who knows who Depp is and about his hiatus from film after a U.K. judge found allegations of him being a “wife beater” to be “substantially true” will find some extra resonance in him opening the trailer with “I made a living out of misbehavior” and closing it with “I’m done when I say I’m done.” 

Anyway, Day Drinker follows “a private-yacht bartender (Madelyn Cline) who encounters a mysterious, onboard guest (Johnny Depp). They soon find themselves entangled with a criminal figure (Penélope Cruz) and connected in ways no one saw coming,” according to a plot synopsis. 

There’s been a fairly long production road for Day Drinker, which comes from director Marc Webb. The production actually predates Ebenezer by about a year, with Depp first having been cast in the role in October 2024.  The film then began filming last year, and it’s being released on March 26, 2027.
