Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen have also dropped out of Django Unchained

Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained seemed to be a done deal, what with those recent set photos suggesting the film was well on its way to brightening your Christmas with bloody, racially charged revenge. But apparently there are still those who do not share Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx's enthusiasm for slave torturing: Kurt Russell has become the latest cast member to exit the production, abandoning the slave trainer role previously ditched by Kevin Costner that forced Tarantino to draft an all-new ad proclaiming, "Wanted: One all-American actor to whip slaves, say horribly racist things with charm. Must provide own ironic likeability."

This time, however, Ain't It Cool News reports that, rather than hunt for another suitable replacement, Tarantino has simply combined the role with one already occupied by Walton Goggins, who's already proved to be a plenty likable racist on Justified. Russell joins an exodus of actors attached to the project that includes the just-departed Sacha Baron Cohen as well as Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jonah Hill, and Will Smith, who now exist solely in some weird, alternate-universe version of Django Unchained, where people probably do things on Christmas besides watch violent slave revenge movies.
