Late-night hosts did not recuse themselves from clowning on Jeff Sessions
Yesterday, newly appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any investigation into potential Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, admitting that he had failed to acknowledge the meetings he had with Russian ambassador Sergey I. Kislyak during the campaign in his Senate confirmation hearings and taking away valuable attention from President Trump and his big-boy flight jacket aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford.
Trump has come forward to defend Sessions’ presumed perjury, calling it “clearly not intentional” and “a total witch hunt,” but late-night TV hosts had no intent on sparing Sessions on their shows last night. A number of major late-night shows—with the notable exception of Jimmy Kimmel, who was busy making George W. Bush look good by comparison—included a bit about Sessions, including The Daily Show, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and Late Night With Seth Meyers. Even Jimmy Fallon made reference to Sessions on The Tonight Show, if only to offer him some friendly job-hunting advice.
You can watch the competing takes on Sessions’ big boo-boo below.
