Girls creator and star Lena Dunham is no stranger to controversy. Certain segments of the Internet seem determined to make everything Dunham does into some sort of Satanic harbinger of the Brooklyn Apocalypse (the artisanal locavore’s End Of Days alternative), but this is the first time she’s actually caused a Scandal. Am I right, people? Please tip your servers, they’re really working hard out there!
Anyway, Lena Dunham is set to guest star on an episode of Scandal some time next month. Details on Dunham’s character are still unknown, but Variety speculates that she may play a client of Pope & Associates. This would fit with Dunham’s previous statements, in which she called landing a guest-starring spot on the show her “life’s great passion. I want to be like, a senator who did something wrong,” she said. Alternately, she could play an eccentric Manhattan heiress who buys Olivia Pope at auction, takes her home to her loft, and feeds her cake and ice cream in the bathtub. Anything is possible with Scandal.
