MTV orders a new season of Awkward. and a reality series about "will they or won't they" virgins

MTV has a thing for virgins. The network has ordered 12 episodes of a new reality series about a group of 18- to 25-year-olds struggling with whether or not to lose it. The as-yet-untitled show will follow, Teen Mom style, young people from across the country as they figure out their love lives, talk to their parents and sluttier friends about sex, and deal with the fact that everyone who watches MTV is going to know their intimate business. (Un)fortunately, as Entertainment Weekly notes, if and when the subjects decide to lose their virginity, MTV will not be there with a camera crew.

Last year, MTV sent out a casting notice for a reality show called My First, which was basically working under the same premise. However, the call generated online controversy that resulted in the show being tabled. While this new show has a different focus, in that it’s about the same group of people throughout the series rather than just a different person each episode, True Life-style, it’s essentially the same premise.
