Please, please, please be more exciting than hours of empty chairs.

Nathan Fielder sees some good questions in 12-hour Instagram
Introducing Endless Mode: A New Games & Anime Site from Paste

Last night, a graphic started circulating on Max’s social media accounts indicating that Nathan Fielder would spend 12 hours on Instagram Live today, starting at 9 am ET. No one, including representatives at HBO, really was able to offer any more information about what was going to happen on this stream. Fielder can be a bit of a cipher, but he can also be painfully literal, so we’re going to go ahead and assume that it just means he’ll be on Instagram Live for 12 hours doing comedic and humorous things.

Of course, season 2 of Fielder’s bizarre and adored series The Rehearsal returns to HBO this Sunday, and the social media livestream is a tried and true promotional method, memorably employed by everyone from Katy Perry to Marvel. Hopefully whatever Fielder is cooking up is more exciting than a series of empty chairs, though even he might have trouble matching the madness of Perry’s four days of Witness promotion. In any case, we’ll be tuning in, and we’ll be updating this post periodically throughout the day with whatever goes on.

[Update 9:10 am]: So far Fielder’s Instagram Live appears to just be a loop of recorded footage of him about to start the live—clearing his throat, taking a sip from a can of seltzer, “reading” the incoming chats and saying “these are good questions” and “awesome.” If this is what all 12 hours of the stream are, it’s a pretty solid joke (and a pretty well-rehearsed one).

[Update 10:15 am]: It’s now been about 75 minutes of the same thing, so it seems likely that this loop is going to continue for the rest of the allotted time.
