Nathan Fielder takes on… commercial aviation disasters? in The Rehearsal season 2 trailer
Introducing Endless Mode: A New Games & Anime Site from Paste

The first season of Nathan Fielder’s The Rehearsal was a bizarre but surprisingly resonant exploration of fatherhood and the ethics of using child performers. Season 2 seeks to take a pretty sharp turn, if its first full trailer is any indication. This time, Fielder will apply his world-famous rehearsal technology to commercial aviation in an apparent attempt to rehearse plane crashes, or at least the following recovery efforts.

This season could not have come at a more appropriate (or perhaps seriously inappropriate) time, given, you know, the multiple plane crashes in early 2025. But that didn’t prompt this endeavor; Fielder tells us in the clip that he has been “studying commercial aviation disasters as a hobby.” 15 years ago, the FAA apparently rejected a suggestion to role-play crash scenarios, and Fielder is going to make them happen. His quest takes him all the way to Capitol Hill and, somehow, back to the Alligator Lounge.

As the clip ends, Fielder wanders through the wreckage of his own creation as an actor blandly bleats, “Help.” It is some truly upsetting stuff. What is not upsetting is how soon The Rehearsal returns; the first episode runs after the April 20 episode of The Righteous Gemstones, at 10:30 pm on HBO and Max. The rest of the season’s six episodes will debut the following Sundays on HBO and Max.
