The two are set to collaborate on a new Peacock comedy called Dig, per The Hollywood Reporter. It will be their first time on the same committee since P&R ended in 2015. Dig will also be a family affair, as Schur’s wife, J.J. Philbin (Only Murders In The Building, Single Parents) joins him for the first time on a half-hour series. (They previously worked together on SNL.) Poehler, Schur, and Philbin will all serve as writers on the new project.
Dig is based on the novel Excavations by Kate Myers, which will see Poehler and some yet-to-be-cast friends getting their Indiana Jones on. “Four women working at an archeological dig in Greece are at wildly different crossroads in their lives. When the team uncovers a long-buried secret with the potential to rewrite history, they find themselves at the center of a high-stakes international conspiracy,” the logline reads.
Dig will allow P&R fans to treat themselves in more ways than one. In addition to the Schur and Poehler reunion, it also marks Poehler’s first ongoing role in a live-action series since P&R ended a decade ago. In the meantime, she’s voiced Joy in Inside Out 2 and Dream Productions, starred in First Time Female Director, Wine Country, and more, and launched her own podcast, Good Hang.
Mike Schur has also been keeping busy. Since launching Parks And Recreation, he’s also helmed Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, Rutherford Falls, and A Man On The Inside. None of those are quite “Requiem For A Tuesday,” but it’s an impressive résumé nonetheless.
