Erin Foster wants to do more seasons of Nobody Wants This, as long as Netflix’s powers that be want it. Season three of the romantic comedy series premiered just a few days ago, but Foster, who created the show based on her real-life relationship, is eager to keep following rabbi Noah Roklov (Adam Brody) and unfiltered podcast host Joanne Williams (Kristen Bell). “I’m so attached to this show and to the story, and would love to see it continue,” Foster told Parade. “But I also really honor the fact that sometimes things end before you’re ready. I do think that’s better than ending after everybody has wished that it was already off the air.” Season three of Nobody Wants This, which Netflix has touted as the “champagne season,” showed Joanne and Noah moving in together, getting engaged, Joanne converting to Judaism, and the pair spontaneously getting married on the beach—all over 10 episodes. Separately, Joanne’s sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) and Noah’s brother Sasha (Timothy Simons) hooked up against their better judgment, and it backfired. Sasha also hooked up with Esther (Jackie Tohn), his wife, whom he separated from at the end of last season. So yeah, that love triangle is a big mess that’s begging to be cleaned up if the show gets picked up for another season.
Foster told Parade that “there’s more story to tell.” But she seems acutely aware that some series overstay their welcome (looking at you, Supernatural and Grey’s Anatomy), and she doesn’t want to fall into that trap. “I’m also someone who doesn’t get too attached to the outcome and is sort of fluid about allowing sort of the market to tell us what they want from us,” she said. “I never want to have a show that goes on longer than people want to see it. I’d rather people want more than want less.” It would be surprising if Netflix didn’t order a fourth season of Nobody Wants This. In the past, the show has earned renewals shortly after each season debuts, so an announcement about its fate seems inevitable soon.
