On the auction block are a Stormtrooper helmet used in The Empire Strikes Back that, judging from the yellowish tint, was stored in the basement of the American Tobacco Company; a hat worn by a Rebel soldier on the ice planet Hoth that’s also perfect for those Chicago winters; and Darth Vader’s SFX makeup appliance as seen in Return Of The Jedi. Apparently the tennis balls that Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor tried to act against on the set of The Phantom Menace are not in high demand, as they are nowhere to be seen on the list of items.
In addition to the Star Wars items, some other cool pieces of movie memorabilia up for auction include Gray’s Sports Almanac from Back To The Future Part II, Steve McQueen’s license plate from Bullitt, and Christopher Reeve’s underwater tunic from the original Superman.
More than 450 items will be sold when the auction takes place September 23rd at the BFI IMAX in London. If you have some serious money burning a hole in your pocket, you can register for the auction here; bids can be placed online, over the phone, or in person.
