Parents Television Council sees the words Sex Box, begins drafting email
Noted killjoy the Parents Television Council has preemptively taken a dislike to WE tv’s new series Sex Box, presumably because the title contains the two filthiest words in the English language after “moist.” PTC president Tim Winters expressed his outrage that the show be allowed to exist inside the same (shudder) box as the wholesome fare on the Disney Channel: “In order for a child to watch the Disney Channel, her parents must now also pay for a live sex show on WE tv,” he said in a statement, demonstrating a basic understanding of how cable works as well as a lack of understanding of what a “live sex show” is.
“A live sex show on TV is something that might show up on a premium cable network,” he added. “But forcing it into the basic cable bundle and making parents and families pay for it is an outrage. Sex Box should never see the light of day on basic cable.” To protest this latest imposition on the eyes and ears of parents tragically incapable of changing the channel when something they find objectionable appears on TV, the PTC has started a petition to remove WE tv from “the cable network bundle” entirely.
Had Winters actually watched the trailer for Sex Box, he would understand that the whole reason for the box is to give couples some privacy so that no one can see or hear them having sex, and that most of the show consists of fully clothed talking. But this, too, is impossible for Winters, who can’t subject himself to even a few seconds of this sort of thing lest he start thinking about boxes. Moist sex boxes.
