Peter Jackson will direct the Tintin sequel as soon as he finishes The Hobbit
Proving that the use of the plural form was, in fact, intentional, The Adventures Of Tintin are expected to continue with a sequel, with Steven Spielberg recently confirming to Total Film that the second installment of a planned trilogy is definitely on the way. Not that Steven Spielberg actually has to do it: “Peter [Jackson]’s doing it. I wanted to do it, but Peter has to because we made a deal. I said, ‘I’ll direct the first one, you direct the second one.’” And so, as soon as Jackson finishes the principal photography on The Hobbit—and then, presumably, the casting—he’ll head from Middle Earth down into the Uncanny Valley to begin motion-capture work on the sequel, because a deal’s a deal. It’s sort of like when you agree to help your buddy move in exchange for an early-morning ride to the airport, except when it’s over you get $300 million.
