Are there any limits to Charlie Cale’s lie detection super power? The Poker Face season two trailer wants to find out. In the next installment of Charlie’s winding cross-country road trip, she’s calling bullshit on all manner of folks, from a glammed-out Cynthia Erivo to a “little demon” child. “No one’s fooled me yet,” she declares in the trailer. John Cho’s actor character would like to try, but she warns him, “I think I might be foolproof.”
At the end of the first season, Charlie (Natasha Lyonne) was sent back on the run after making enemies out of the Five Families casino syndicate and their leader, Beatrix Hasp (Rhea Perlman). Beatrix is definitely still after Charlie (we saw a would-be assassin take a shot at her in the previously released teaser), and the FBI are still involved. Charlie became acquainted with Luca Clark (Simon Helberg) last season, but now there are some new agents in the mix, played by Lyonne’s Orange Is The New Black co-star Taylor Schilling and her buddy John Mulaney, seen in the trailer comically grumbling to himself, “Who even are you?”
The lists of guests is, as expected, long and star-studded; there’s barely time to process all the names and faces as they flash by in the Poker Face season two trailer. In addition to Erivo, Cho, Schilling, and Mulaney, new additions include a flirty Alia Shawkat, a debonair-looking Justin Theroux, a suspicious-looking Giancarlo Esposito, and literally dozens more (who could forget Daisy the alligator and Joseph the gerbil). On top of the trailer, Peacock also shared some new first-look photos which tease Simon Rex and Brandon Perea doing some baseball bonding, Lyonne pointing an accusing finger at Patti Harrison, and Richard Kind seemingly in league with the Five Families. Poker Face premieres on the streamer May 8; you can check out the new photos below.
