Hulu shares first look at secret animated Predator project

Last year, 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell teased in an interview that there was another Predator film coming out before Predator: Badlands. On the heels of Prey, Dan Trachtenberg had some “really crazy but really cool” ideas, and now we know that one of them is an animated anthology film coming to Hulu on June 6. On Tuesday, the streamer shared the Predator: Killer Of Killers first look, a bloody, action-packed new perspective on the classic monster franchise.

Trachtenberg co-directed the movie with Josh Wassung of animation company The Third Floor. Predator: Killer Of Killers is “an anthology story following three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause,” per the film’s synopsis (via The Hollywood Reporter). “While all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent — the ultimate killer of killers.”

The Predator: Killer Of Killers first look gruesomely weaves together its three timelines as the animated medium allows for fantastical set pieces. But the one constant throughout time seems to be humans getting absolutely slaughtered by Predators. That’s something of a contrast to Predator: Badlands, which features Elle Fanning as a young woman who forms an unlikely bond with one of the deadly monsters. “Something unprecedented happens in this movie, and my character is not the one being chased,” Fanning teased at CinemaCon last week (via The Hollywood Reporter). “My character actually teams up with the Predator, and you get to see him in a whole new light.” Trachtenberg also directed Badlands, which premieres in theaters November 7.
