Ayo Edebiri and Will Sharpe are former gifted kids in first look at Prodigies

After kicking around Abbott Elementary every now and again, it seems like Ayo Edebiri finally has a classroom of her own—or, she’s just kicking around a different school. In the first look at Apple TV’s new show Prodigies it looks a bit more like the latter, but we definitely feel confident in saying that Edebiri will be in a classroom at some point. Maybe her co-star, The White Lotus‘ Will Sharpe, will join her one of those days. From the sound of it, they’re both former gifted kids, so it would make sense for them to be a little hung up on school.

An official plot synopsis reads:

“Prodigies” follows Didi (Edebiri) and Ren (Sharpe), two former child prodigies now in their 30s, as they re-examine the relationship they have been in since they were nine. From London to Tokyo by way of Virginia, this unconventional take on a romantic comedy explores ideas of potential, ambition and the universal complexities of long-term relationships. As they begin to question whether their very ordinary existence is living up to the extraordinary promise of their childhood, they find themselves in a new and terrifying kind of chaos.

Edebiri and Sharpe will star in the series alongside John Malkovich, Tobias Menzies, Yumi Asō, Maria Bakalova, Sophia Di Martino, Rina Sawayama, Reece Shearsmith, Dame Meera Syal and Andrene Ward-Hammond. Prodigies debuts on Apple TV with two episodes on February 10, and will continue with one episode per week until March 17.
