Introducing Endless Mode: A New Games & Anime Site from Paste
Oscar winners, if you’re in line to appear in a new season of Only Murders In The Building, stay in line! The beloved Hulu mystery-comedy hasn’t yet finished adding major star power to its cast. To recap, we’ve seen side characters played by Academy Award winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Academy Award winner Shirley MacLaine, Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, and soon, Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz. And hey, why not add one more: Academy Award winner Renée Zellweger has also joined the cast of the fifth season, according to Deadline.
Of course, the only thing we know so far about Zellweger’s involvement in the show is that she is indeed involved. Amongst herself, Waltz, and Keegan Michael Key, we don’t yet know if any of the new cast are playing brand new characters or themselves in the kind of self-deprecating celebrity cameo that has become OMITB tradition. (That role has previously gone to Sting, Amy Schumer, Matthew Broderick, and last season’s trio of Eugene Levy, Zack Galafanakis, and Eva Longoria.)
What we do know is that our heroes Oliver (Martin Short), Charles (Steve Martin), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) will be working to solve the murder of the Arconia’s doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca). Lester’s death may or may not be tied to the Dry Cleaning King of Brooklyn, whose wife Sofia Caccimelio (Téa Leoni) wants the podcasting trio to look into his suspicious death. Initially, they turned her down (because they Only investigate Murders In The Building), but you can bet they’ll get entangled in the case somehow—and as a result, entangled in New York’s underworld of organized crime. Much to look forward to!
